Our Philosophy

We believe as the Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6-“Train up a child in the way he/she should go and when he/she is old he/she will not depart from it”. We also believe the purpose of childcare is two-fold. First, children should be cared for in a safe, nurturing place that parents can trust when children and parents are apart. Second, children should be involved in a developmentally appropriate program that full promotes each child’s physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual skills. We strive for an atmosphere that respects the individual differences of children and their parents, and yet appreciates the similarity in all of us. Additionally, we set high standards for our program as an example in our community of the quality childcare services that all children deserve.

Experience the joy and excitement as your little ones flourish under our care.      Wild Horizon’s Discovery Academy is a year-round educational and child care program offering a variety of different activities for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our program provides children with age appropriate opportunities for intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth in a stimulating atmosphere which promotes growth and development. Children are provided “free-play” time which promotes freedom of expression along with “structured” time activities which promote a child’s ability to follow through with tasks and conform to rules.

Meet your director

   Hi! My name is Olivia Welch and I am SO PROUD to be your Director!! I was born and raised not only in Huntington, but in the Highlawn Area so when I tell you serving the youth of this community is my DREAM - I mean it! I began my childcare journey over 14 years ago now, right out of Highschool. I fell in love with this industry and have never left. I firmly believe that children are our future and need to be respected as such.  It is my goal, as your Director, to employ the highest quality teachers and provide you with the best possible daycare experience.  We have worked hard to perfect our teaching techniques and build an incredibly strong team that all work together to raise your children to be well rounded, intelligent, and admirable adults.  My promise to you is that I will never stop working to provide the absolute best care for your children. We are in this together!
